Henriette –
I really liked this backpack as it was very functional, but sometimes hard to use with only one big compartment and one zipper for it. After just over a year that zipper split, which was really annoying since that one zipper holds the big compartment together. Disappointed that it didn’t last longer than that for that price.

I’ve had this for about two years now and let me just start off by saying this backpack is wonderfully made and functional. Mine did come bent on the top which was annoying but nothing I couldn’t overlook. However what got me the most was the one zipper as many others stated and worst, which has pushed me to look for a new backpack, is how heavy it feels. They advertised that it is lighter than their previous Sienna backpack, and yes it is “lighter” empty compared to the previous one but it also lacks support, which is now giving me back issues. It’s like putting apples from a tote bag into plastic bag, like yes the bag itself is lighter but those apples are gonna feel heavier now. Sucks becasue I loved this backpack despite its flaws but my body can’t take it anymore.

My Honest Review (after 1.5 years): (I’m a travel agent, and do a lot of travel with a carry-on bag and this backpack.) The Main Pocket – the waterproof pouch is nice in theory, but I keep the liquid bottles in a separate pouch to easily pull out. The extra pockets to organize are nice to help maximize space. – The zipper magnet closer was a reason I bought the pack, it was really nice. I was using it for a while. The magnet broke off. – After about a year and a half, the main zipper split. Unfortunately it’s no longer usable and out of warranty. I did reach out, and they were kind and helpful. – The laptop holder is great. I put my iPad and 15 inch lenova in the pouch. This backpack is my work bag and my travel bag. – I wish this pocket had two zipper to make it easier to access each side. The Hidden Back Pocket – this is spacious and great for securing important items. – I easily fit my Wallet, keys, phone, chapstick, passport, and a few more items. The Credit Card Pocket – this pocket is not so useful to me. I always have a separate wallet, plus, it is not secure enough to put those items in. – I usually put my smaller charging cables in there so that it’s being used. The Water Bottle pocket fits a bottle well and secures it well. I keep my 36oz yeti in it. The external charge port is okay. I kind of liked it at first, but it broke after 2 uses. The Side Pockets are great for storing various items. – the way I pack items, these pockets are a little messy with items. They all fall to the bottom of the pocket. – There is a sunglasses pouch that is microfiber type. I didn’t realize that and would feel comfortable keeping my sunglasses in it. – Because the are thin and top to bottom on the bag, its hard to distribute the bulk well. The straps are very comfortable. I actually love them more than any I’ve ever tried. The luggage strap works so well. The main pocket fits a lot. I can easily fit 2 days of stuff in the bag. I am the Queen of overpacking, and when I switched to this bag, I never had to worry about it after. My only issue was this eventually did cause the zipper to split. This bag is visibly in great shape. It is not dirty, I haven’t needed to clean it.

The bag only has one zip and that is the most annoying part. Even though it has good compartments inside the bag but it’s difficult to take the things while you carry one side because of the only one zip. The quality is good but just poor design. I wouldn’t recommend buying this bag.
Wanted to love it, now just very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend. –
I wanted to love this bag and for the first 8 months or so I did. After receiving it for Christmas as a key carry on item for my international travel I was so excited about the carrying capacity, the many pockets and the power cord access. As other reviewers share, it’s a bit annoying to have only one zipper for the main pouch but I started using for some of my short haul work travel as well. On my last work trip however the zipper split unexpectedly while repacking at airport security which lead to a very uncomfortable period of me fixing it as best I could to continue my trip and after getting the zipper down I was able to get it back up properly. On my way home it happened again as I was packing and it took some effort and quite some time to get it fixed to fly home. It seemed to be pretty well fixed after tightening the zipper itself so I naively took it on my next work trip which then ended up splitting when security opened it to inspect inside. I used to recommend this bag to everyone but now I think I’m going to have to retire it and go purchase a different brand. Wanted to love it but being stranded in an airport with a bag you are desperately trying to zip closed is a stressful experience not worth the other benefits. I didn’t even get a full year of use out of it.

Amazing piece of luggage. Well designed, high quality fabrics, great ergonomic wearable. Ideal for business travelling in style. Strongly recommended.
Nora –
I have this for about 2 years now and I was very very happy at the beginning. It looks really good and very well compartmented. The problem is that I used aprox..let’s say 20 times, in business trips and the shape is very loose now…It looks kind of bad and didn’t hold as I hoped it would. It was really expensive and I was hoping it will be a better quality but it is not really.
Dianne –
Got it for christmas. First time using it. I haven’t even left for my flight yet, still at the airport. Just noticed the stitching. I hope this bag survives my trip.

Poorly design bag for travel. I frequently travel and was excited to see they added a chest strap to help distribute the weight. I simply packed a laptop and 3 days of clothes in the compression cube, and some toiletries. Within hours going through the airport my chest strap snapped off. So frustrating :(. Also I do not like you have to unzip the entire bag to access the laptop compartment.. this is a poor design decision. The original design had a separate compartment accessible without opening the bag. They should have kept this design. It’s way more efficient. I do not recommend this bag for travel only for daily use.

This is the 3rd Nordace Backpack I’ve bought in just over 2 years. The quality has been great, they don’t NEED to be replaced- I just travel a lot, they get dirty and are hard to clean. Some feedback about the Sienna 2 – I’m not wild about it. The number one reason is that it has one zipper instead of two on the main compartment. In order to get anything from one of the interior pockets, I have to put it down and unzip it, while making sure nothing falls out. I keep my wallet, passport, and keys inside and with the old pack pack, I could just slip it off one shoulder and access the main compartment, now I can’t. I think it’s a step backward as far as convenience goes. It seems minor, but in a crowded TSA line or at a store, it’s everything. The other issue, for me, is where to place the power bank. The Sienna had a perfectly sized pocket inside that and worked great. I love the integrated charger system in the Sienna 2, but my power bank (an Anker 20000mAH) does not fit well in the side pocket where the connector is. It sticks out and I’m sure will eventually wear through the material. It also distorts the side and just looks odd. Finally, it just doesn’t hold its shape as well as the Sienna. I imagine that’s because it’s a bit larger, but it doesn’t look as nice/neat. I’ve gotten SO many compliments on my original Sienna backpacks in the last 2 years- I’m in the airport at least once per week and it’s rare if someone doesn’t ask me where I got it. This one is headed to the donation bin.
Annalisa –
The bag is beautiful but is heavy even when empty. I used it on my trip to Europe and I was wearing dark blue jeans, the color transferred to the bag. Now I’m still trying to remove the stain. Don’t buy the white.
Rose –
I’ve had this bag for a few months now. Overall I like it, I like the pockets and the design and colour. That being said, there are quite a few things I don’t like about it. Firstly it’s hardly water resistant. The outside still soaks. (Included picture where the water drops are still on the leather but not the bag as they have soaked in) The inside doesn’t seem to get wet, but I haven’t been out in the rain with it for extended periods of time so I’m not sure if it would after enough exposure. The water droplets do not roll off, they soak into the outer fabric. Second, the usb thing is weird. I don’t see the point of it. You plug a battery into it, and plug a cord for your phone into it. I don’t see how that’s any different from just keeping the charger in your bag with the cord coming out of a hole. I don’t use those anyway so the bit for it is just a bulky (picture included of how the side bulks out due to the plastic piece inside for the charging) waste of space on the side of the bag that would have been better as an extra pocket for umbrella/water bottle. Lastly one of the main zips is a bit screwed up at the bottom, like it’s come unstitched slightly. (Picture attached) So I have to hold the bottom in order to zip up. Nice bag? Yes. Worth £100? Definitely not. I would have been happy to pay £60 for a bag with these faults, but I feel it’s slightly defective and not as advertised.

My only hesitation with buying this bag was the placement of the luggage strap. To my surprise, it looks like complaints were heard and mine arrived with the mid-level strap!! The bag feels super sturdy and I love all the compartments! The magnetic lock with take some getting used to but otherwise I’m super excited to use it on my next trip! SN: shipping took much longer than expect. Ordered from Hawaii.
Bernard –
This backpack is game-changing. Its classic looks expensive when you get it on. It arrived just in time for my trip. Straight up this backpack has the worst zip you could ever imagine. I used it for one week and i had to change the zip. Its the worst. But apart from he you are getting quality. Fix the zips
Sara Djamin –
My Sienna II arrived just in time to take on my first weekend trip and I’ve used it several times since. I’ve yet to pack it as my only bag for a long weekend and I’m anxious to test capacity for that. Overall I love this bag. The pockets are functional, roomy, and well located. The charging port is extremely useful. It’s comfortable to carry and sits nicely on my carry on trolly. My only complaint is the location of the luggage strap. It’s located far too high and I can’t make sense at all as to why it’s there. It still works but I have to pull my trolley handle higher than I would like. In any case, I’ve recommended it to many! If you’re looking for the ideal travel bag this is it!
A. Brooks –
I have one major complaint about this backpack. Instead of two zippers on the main compartment, it has just the one mag-lock zipper way down low on the side. It’s hard to open and because it’s so low, you have to open the entire front flap to grab anything from inside and you risk items falling out from the side. Two zippers that meet at the top makes much more sense to me.
Rachelle Chinnery –
The pack itself is everything I thought it would be based on the marketing images. My one disappointment is the cable charging system. The cord doesn’t rewind on the winding storage system. The first pull into a charging port disables the rewind; now I have to just stash the cord instead of having it tidily wound up in its case. That’s a design flaw. Quite useless. Very disappointed in that flaw.
Aleksandra –
Great backpack, but 1 star less for safety. There is no reflectors at all! But it is very spacious: I use it as everyday backpack for work laptop and papers and for the travel too.
IslaAnne –
This backpack is very heavy empty. If you have arthritis or if you are elderly this might not be your backpack. The main compartment opening opens with only one zipper one way. This makes it very cumbersome to open and close when your backpack is full.
Caroline –
I purchased a Sienna 11 bag at the end of May and unfortunately the rewind mechanism for the charging cable was faulty, I contacted Nordace and their fabulous customer services got a replacement bag to me really fast and so I was able to use this on my holidays a couple of weeks later. In the main I am very happy with the bag, it’s roomy, the pockets are useful as is the smart charging point, however these are my observations. The bag is quite heavy even when empty. It could do with a waist strap as well to help spread the load. I purchased the packing cubes (2) and wash bag cube. You cannot really fit more than 2 full cubes in the backpack at anyone time. The chest strap is almost impossible to clip back on whilst wearing the bag. I bought a rain cover as offered at the checkout only to find that the bag is waterproof anyway. The strap to hold the backpack on to a luggage handle is too high so was not usable. (See the original Sienna as the strap on that is in a better place). Other than those minor gripes, everything was fine and the bag was used every day on a three week holiday still looks as good as new. I’ve given 4 stars, not 5 due to the points mentioned above and I’m not sure that this is an improvement on the Original Sienna and is quite a bit more expensive.
Sarah –
Purchased the bag from Melbourne Australia and it came in 2 weeks very impressed with the shipping time considering all the negative shipping reviews was super hesitant about that. The bag itself looks sturdy great quality the magnetic zip will take some time getting use to but very handy. Just unpacked it today so will be using it in September for Europe. The pocket for the cards and the battery pack is a long but not deep so it doesn’t seem to fit a normal sized battery pack mine is bulging out but just fits in the zip it’s an unusual place to put the battery pack considering the Sienna 1 seemed in a good position. Tad small doesn’t look aesthetically pleasing to me with the battery pack in but overall I’m excited to try out the backpack on my travels. We got 2 one for me beige and one for my partner so super excited!
Marek –
This is the best backpack I’be ever had. Holds a lot od stuff inside, a giant 1,5l bottle of water fits easily to the waterpocket. And charging system, brilliant!
john.chia91 –
I got this bag for the luggage strap and added volume compared to the original bag. The luggage strap is useless. It’s way too high. If my daughter, who is shorter, wants to use it, the bag won’t sit on top of the suitcase as she does not extend the suitcase handle all the way. The strap is too high and the bag falls off, since the suitcase handle is shorter than the bag is high. I’ve already sold the bag and won’t buy again until they fix this utter fail. It was in the perfect position before. Just wish the original bag was sightly bigger. I also prefer the hidden pocket that was under the luggage strap on the original bag. All of the organization is great and the quality is great. Hoping they fix this oversight soon, as I have several international trips coming in the new year.
Laura F –
Brilliant bag. I had the first Sienna which I loved but this one is even better. The bottle holder on the outside actually does hold a 1l bottle, the pocket on the side for cables is brilliant and I love that the main compartment zips all the way around. It’s also gorgeous and the sternum strap makes it much more comfortable. My first Sienna lasted for a few years and I’ve only upgraded because I fancied a different colour. I’d definitely recommend it.
The Saint –
The Bag is sturdy and of good quality. But it is too heavy for travels or even for daily use. I was disappointed by the weight but impressed on the design and quality.
lorenzo –
Good Bags I love this bags to travel
Marcia Henderson –
I bought this bag for a vacation and Loved it. Only 4 stars because the strap that slips over the handle of my roller bag is a little bit high on the bag and would be better if it were about 1 to 2 inches lower. I ordered it in Beige and the color is beautiful. I did get it dirty from a spill, but once I got back home and was able to completely unpack it, I was able to clean it with a little dish soap and water. So no worries with getting the light color.
Karen W –
I absolutely love love love this backpack, it has everything you need for a few nights away.
Rocky –
Perfect size for a “One Bag”! I fit 3 days of clothes in here with a compression cube no problem! I had a ton of space left over too and even carried multiple chargers, a tablet, xbox controller, toiletries, snacks, etc.
This backpack is a beast with a slim profile and semi-rigid shape. Also feels really sturdy as well. I took this on a 3 day trip and it fit nicely under my seat on all my flights.
My only complaint is the pocket layout, you have 2 in the front that are right on top of each other but they are probably only useful for paper/notebooks etc since they are so thin, also there is no side strap so if you wanted to use it in a “briefcase” mode that’s not possible, i feel like a briefcase mode / side strap would have made sense with the layout of pockets
Overall this is a great pack with lots of space, going to be using it for all my 3 day travel trips from here on out as a replacement to my luggage.
Note: the charging port thing was a bit confusing and didn’t have great instructions its 1 cable that has an extra “tip” for iphone/3.0 to get the different tips there is a small slot in the outer plastic – plug the cable in there and when you pull it out you will have the extra tip. Hope that helps someone cuz it took me forever to figure it out as it was confusing.
Amanda –
I absolutely love this backpack except for the chest strap and battery pocket. The chest strap came with a tie on it that feel off after one day of use, so the strap is unusable now. I would also love for the battery pocket to be widder. I LOVE the zippers, zipper lock, and space of this bag though, and use it throughout my three week trip in Europe.
Emma –
I was looking for a bag to take with me everyday, for work trips, and for domestic and international travel, to start travelling with carry on capacity only. I am so very impressed with this bag!
Things I love:
The material feels sturdy, it is well constructed and is not at all flimsy.
The square feel of the bag helps to fit everything in very nicely. The 21L capacity is less than 1/2 the size of my regular travel backpack (50L) but it fits so much in there. I’ve done a pack for a multi-week holiday and managed to fit everything I need. I’ll also leave a review of the new compression cubes (AMAZING).
The chest strap helps to redistribute some of the weight off your back. (A waist strap on v3 would be absolutely perfect but we are going down to serious travel business there). It’s also a really innovative design; nothing that I have seen before, but very easy to use and so far strong enough.
The USB-C retractable cable (and iPhone port converter) is perfect to charge my phone on the go/ while I’m taking hundreds of photos. I can also squeeze my phone into that pocket to charge handsfree.
The packing cubes lay flat in the bottom of the bag, so you can stand them or lay them, depending on your packing needs.
The front pockets with their quirky side facing pockets. I wasn’t sure to start with, but when it’s on my back, they make for really easy access to my things.
The magnetic zip lock. Absolute genius! I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but this funny bit helps to keep the zip in place, and will deter theft. I can also put my combination code padlock in there for extra security, which is great for overhead plane bins, when sleeping in a dorm, and for walking in some dodgy towns.
The front pocket is actually two pockets. A little confusing, but both have space to store even more things!
The hidden back pocket is a great size. Much larger than the previous version of this bag, I can store my passport, travel documents, photocopies, and anything else I need to keep safe.
I don’t generally carry a wallet, so the addition of the RFID card holders in the charging pocket is great for me. That zip also faces toward the back of the bag, so I don’t feel too unsafe with them in that pocket. Some card slots in the back pocket would also be a nice addition though.
Multiple pockets inside the main compartment. When the compression cubes are in there, these are less accessible, but for everyday use, these give me the organisation I need, without being overwhelming. There is a nice balance of open and zippered pockets to keep everything safe.
Delivery to my house in rural NSW, Australia was only 6 days after purchase. I cannot be happier with that!
Things I could learn to love:
The zips are a little sticky. But with more use they could loosen up.
There is only one zip for the main compartment. This is due to the new locking feature but I will need to get used to that.
I have a fantastic Anker powerbank. This will definitely not fit in the charging pocket. I could get a smaller powerbank for the bag, but when taking it on my off-grid adventures, I would need to take the Anker as well.
I personally would prefer the padded part of the shoulder straps to extend a little longer. That said, if I wore it properly on my shoulders and not let it hang they do provide adequate comfort.
It does look a little bulky. I’m 5’6″ and it definitely covers all of my back. If you’re smaller than me, you would likely get lost under all that baggage.
All in all, I am super impressed with my purchase!
Katarina Vaculova –
The design of the backpack is gorgeous. I love grey color of the pack and elegant, simple, minimalistic design. The backpack is universal for travelling as well as for business trips to look stylish. Material is just great, waterproof and really strong. Lot of pockets for everything to have it own place. The lock on the side is much appreciated. Really comfortable to wear and straps are just soft and comfy. Locking strap mechanism which connects both straps together on a chest seems to be very sophisticated but lets see if it stand after long time period. But I have 3 small things for the improvement. 1: I need to agree that battery space is really small and I also need to buy new smaller and thinner battery to fit inside (and I really love my external battery). Therefore I would prefer bigger pocket. 2: If you reverse the zipper on battery pocket (which also keeps your credit cards), you would be able to lock it along with your main lock zipper. 3: I need to agree with very bad position of the strap on the back that holds the pack. It’s very high located and the backpack strap is completely useless for big traveling luggage. I cannot use it for my big luggage.
Trang Vuong –
The backpack is heavy itself but when you actually wear it, it’s not big of a deal. Fully functional as it advertised. The two withdrawn are : first, the zipper are really sharp and I feel like I will get little cut every now and then; secondly, the cable of lightning on the side seems not working for me even though I tried. Overall, it is a good backpack for everyday schooling.
Bea –
Love the backpack! It’s design lives up to the hype in almost everyway. Only comment is the space to put the powerbank is very small.
Elizabeth A –
Okay so I learned about this bag via Instagram and was initially skeptical (everything I’ve gotten from IG has not lived up to it). However, this bag is somehow the exception. Impeccable quality. Seriously the material it’s made out of it excellent. Very durable and also just wonderful to look at. There are so many pockets too which is a big selling point here. Also, I have a 17 in laptop and was worried it wouldn’t fit but it fits perfectly with more than enough room to keep my laptop safe. Also the usb charger point is great for plugging your external charger into. This is the perfect work and travel bag. Highly recommend!
Debbie –
Great pack. I love all the features: little pockets for organizing, sturdy zippers, spill-proof/water-resistant material. It holds a surprising amount for a smaller size pack. It’s very comfortable to wear. Two things that could be better. First, the pocket that holds a battery pack (not supplied with the pack) is small and does not accommodate wide batteries. I’m going to have to buy a new one to use for the pack. Second,
the strap on the back that holds the pack onto a suitcase handle is too high and is basically useless. The original Sienna had it in the correct location. The original Sienna might actually have the better design in these two areas, but it has a smaller capacity.
A combination of the two packs would be ideal. If you redesign the pack to fix these two flaws, let me know – I would consider buying the upgraded version.
